A 11 clicker at 1.30 am

Posted by rlog on September 26, 2007

Thanks to Bruny’s long straight roads … today I ran all the way to Bruny’s nu skin and clocked in an 11 clicker. Felt good except for the olde’ knee griping a bit along the way. Running here is akin to running near Kelana Jaya at the same time except for the fact that streets here are clean, heck even the construction sites are clean. I really don’t know how they manage this. About work, it’s rapidly winding down and before you know it ( before you know it here … is about like next week ) probably I will be pounding the pavements in Sunny Olde’ Malaysia again.

Found a few good podcasts about running and health in general that I have updated the blogroll. There are not enough of them to have one that really suxs so all of them are my favorites, though sometimes I think to myself if I am short changing myself in terms of mental training if I listen to podcasts during runs. I guess you can look at it in two ways. One way you are distracting yourself, the other is you are feeding your brain with useful information during runs.

Anyways, today is the planned cutover over here and with any luck I might still be able to slip in a long-short run in there.

Update … managed to squeeze in a 8km run burning 653kCal in the process. Nice medium distance run just before the big cut over. Winds are blowing hard and there is lightning in the sky. A precursor to things going smoothly tonight I hope, the schedule being tight and all with WS going back this friday this may be our only shot to get this right.

Intervals … my style

Posted by rlog on September 19, 2007

Did my equivalent of intervals – 5.5k burning 356 kCal. I have adapted well for running during Ramadan month and so far there seems to be no difference in the mileage I am doing daily. It’s just running at a different time of the day. There is a scenic run about 4 clicks from my apartment that overlooks the “kampung air” of Brunei. It’s a really scenic run overlooking traditional bruny houses built over the river. I like this run and I feel strong everytime when I run around this area but due to my own lazy assedness I only manage to do this 2 to 3 times a week.

Later people.

job getting in the way

Posted by rlog on September 17, 2007

Have to pull an all nighter for the job today so I am at work after a 5.5 k run burning 523kCal. You know what ? Brunei is great and all but I miss Malaysia so much. I miss running on Malaysian roads, or I don’t know maybe I am just home sick. I miss being able to talk to friends and family without having to worry about how much the phone bill is going to bomb my ass. I miss fried oyster from Meng Tien. I miss zipping around on my Ex-5, yes I still prefer my own bike to a SEAT. I know how it’s going to be, once I get home I am going to miss this place. A working visit is just not the opportune way to fall in love with a country. One day if i get the chance I will definitely come back here with a bundle of cash to burn and on a NON working trip ! PURE HOLIDAY !!

AUGHH ! I just want to go home already !!

It’s night runs now for me

Posted by rlog on September 17, 2007

Converted all my runs to night runs. It gets tough getting the morning runs in during ramadan. Felt good during the run last night while steve runner kept my spirits high. I really like his podcast and gives the spirit a good run while the body is getting it’s share. It’s like how the guys says it in Fight Club “Every night I die and I am reborn again”. Really don’t know what I would do without the evening runs for soul rebirth.

There is also nothing like getting to know a foreign country better than to traverse it in your daily runs. What I can see and feel during my daily runs about Brunei is definitely more than what a car ride can offer. The closeless offered by getting up close and personal during my daily runs with the landscape is at a different intimacy level that transcends just the normal fleeting look out your car window with air cond blasting away. I feel and breathe Brunei everyday and I really feel a closeness to this place.

Distance : 7.1km

kCal : 712 kCal
