Back in Kuantan, can’t believe that I missed logging my runs for a week ! This has always traditionally been the problems with logs, you got to manually write em ! Ankle still giving me a hard time so I am gonna back off somewhat for the runs, so just one run today.
Morning : 4 km

Found this great place called footsolution -> www.footsolution.com at the Curve. Nice place, and they even do feet analysis (free) for you and suggest what will be the best running shoes for the type of your feet / posture. Ended up buying myself a pair of pre-made insoles, costing rm 180.00. Hopefully this will solve the pain I am experiencing at my left ankle.

Back in soggy olde’ Kuantan and it’s been rainin’ all sortasa stuff from the sky so can’t help but run in the rain in the evening. Running in the rain is great to break the monotony of the daily run.
The only thing I hate about running in the rain is the sore muscles after and the icky feeling of the soggy shoes the next day. For those who are new to running, never let the fear of getting wet stop you from putting in the day’s run. Just try it, you might end up running stronger or longer than you ever did. The few things that you have to keep in mind about wet runs are :
- Sore muscles. Wet shoes causes your feet to slip just that tiny bit and landing with that slight slip on your feet will cause your muscles to ache that tiny bit more after the run.
- Lightning. Simple. If there is lightning, don’t run. It’s just not worth it.
- Try to watch out for puddles, if possible avoid them. You just can’t gauge how deep those things are during the downpour, and they have the possiblity of causing you a nasty ankle injury.
- Try to bring a plastic bag just incase the rain gets really heavy halfway and you have to keep your electronic stuff (mp3 players, handphones and such) dry.
So, that’s it, just keep those few things in mind and head out into the rain ! Who knows there might just be a personal best waiting for you in the eye of the next storm.

- An mp3 player with gprs and a podcatcher built in that can update my playlist automatically while I run.
- A handheld potty device when there are no potties available (any runner on the watercure will understand the need for this one)
Going back to hometown today at 10.30pm, sigh ! Don’t think will be able to get the night run in. Ah well, they always say some tapering is good.

Speedwork still manages to put a frown on my face when I think about it. It’s just too much of hardwork. I don’t know why but I never managed to warm up to speedwork. Listening to SimplyStu do his just gave me shivers all the way to my quads. I really don’t dig speedworks, but then again I know that it’s what I have to do to get fast. Damn.

Pisses me off that my cheaper saucony avail is kinder on my feet compared to the saucony 3d hurricane. I still haven’t got the shoe knowledge down pat yet. It’s hard stuff. A thing of luck. A shoe can look great but wear painful or it could just be the other way around. Price is also a poor measure of comfort. A rm300++ shoe could just cause you as much pain as a rm30 one, and I learnt this the hard way !
Now it would be great if shoe company could do it like how car retailers do it where potential car owners can bring the car around for a spin before buying the thing. Call it a test run on the shoe. You like the run, buy it, if not return the pair with no questions asked. I am sure this concept has already been done somewhere as I write, it ain’t exactly a revolutionary marketing strategy. To me, as far as shoes are concerned, I think about the only way to be sure a shoe is the one you are looking for is to run in ‘em.

Felt good during the daily run today (always has ever since the watercure). In this post I am going to share some running pet peeves that every runner worth their salt will immediately identify with.
- Untied shoe laces
- Bowel movement
- Sweat in eyes
- An itchy big toe
- The icky feeling of petroleum jelly inbetween the thighs
- The painful feeling of soap on your chaff wounds as a consequence of not tolerating #5
- These stuff on top will be even more pronounced / fun if you combine them with the ones below :
Morning : 6km
Night : 5km
