Cracked 6min/km !

Posted by rlog on January 14, 2008

I didn’t want to post here until I was sure, so I took a few more trial runs just to be sure. I finally cracked 6 min/km for my daily runs ! To test out I ran in Kuantan over the weekend, the normal route here and the park route over at Kelana business square. I clocked in an impressive 5.45 min/km for each of those locations. I am really ecstatic over this development and looking back at the blog, I used to run at 8 to 9 min / kms. This is a tremendous development for my running and I am getting faster and the results show up now as my weight is going off and the inches is also going off the belly. Happy times this.

I see so many people on the streets now with this big belly problem and I just want to stop them and just hold them by the shoulders and say

straight to their faces ”Dude ! I know the solution to your belly problems !”. I want to tell them because I know how it feels to have a

belly and look at yourself in the mirror. I know how is it like pick up a new pair of trousers and notice that you have over grown your old

size by another inch. I used to balk when I see those informacials where people who lost weight bawl their eyes out but now I begin to understand. You do really feel emotionally better and it gives you an internal boost like no other thing can. Just knowing that you look sexy gives that extra little spring to your step. I want to share this with everyone because I think that everyone deserves a chance to go for that perfect figure. I want to teach but then everything still obeys the rule “When the student is ready the teacher will appear”. People who want to listen will listen and will be willing to pay the price for getting that body size of your choice. Here I send out all the love and compassion and hope to those trying to loose that few extra folds from the midsection or just to loose that extra few pounds. You can do it ! Just remember to fork out that little extra cash to buy your usual wardobe one size down :) .

so near so near

Posted by rlog on January 4, 2008

So near to break the 6 min / km mark ! Today I averaged at 6.05 ! He he I am getting there. Before I know it, I would have broken my own best time for the time when I was in Form 2. 59 mins for 10km, but the love I have for my miles now is definitely more than what I could have felt during that time. Just wish I discovered this earlier, but heck you definitely won’t hear me complaining about this.

Was just looking over this blog and I am truly astounded by how my time has improved from a pace of 9+ down to 6+. A whopping 3 minutes pace jump is nothing to sneeze at okay.  Man ! There is just a certain satisfaction to be felt living the dream of having your time go down your body feeling great at the same time.

running strong

Posted by rlog on January 3, 2008

Runs are really good nowadays. I am running strong everyday normally without a need to even consider slowing down. I guess I ran myself out of the rut, and here I don’t know what really contributed to this, whether it’s the vits ( Overdrive / Excel ) or generally I am feeling better, but I don’t care ! I am just dang happy that the runs are kicking in great again. Did 7km today on my new pair or NB. Probably good to mention here too that the old pair of Brook Phoenix went the way of the dodo when it got lifted from my house here in KL. All the trouble for a old soggy pair of trainers ? Man you take it dude. You probably need it more than me.

It’s good to be back ! On the finance side a bit more moneys are going in the sinker coz I have to shop around for new clothes coz the old ones do not fit anymore, but in a damn good way !! Weight is down to 77 which is the lowest it has been so far and I am way up there ! Waist is down to 32. I just feel unstoppable now, plus with the new diet with the sugar levels being consistent and everything, energy level is high everyday and really sympathize those poor sods who still lumber around for the whole day filling up with carbs and feeling and acting generally like a zombie ! I am thankful I found the way around this. I want to share this with anyone who will listen but as I found out numerous times in the past, only when the student is ready then the teacher will appear. I have come to accept this about people and it’s easier on me. People will listen and really listen when they are ready, and normally it takes a life threatening crisis for them to pay attention. This is like god hitting them with a jack hammer after all those fatherly failed to work. It’s unfortunate but that is life. Live and let live.

kronik ! kronik !

Posted by rlog on October 11, 2007

A few days into work and I am cronically tired again ! When you are tired your miles are less enjoyable and your pace goes up. If pushed this way there is only one destination at the end of your run. The pain in the ass clinic ! Pushing your body this way is not cool !

Pace : 9.01

Max H/R : 161

Distance : 4.61 km ( It’s not actually shorter just forgot to switch the damn watch on ! )

the later they are ….

Posted by rlog on October 8, 2007

Had sungkai at sunway’s resort which personifies the phrase “good to see not good to eat”. The food looked delicious for the most part. Started raining when I came back around 9.00.

10.00 pm peeked out -> raining

11.00 pm peeked out again -> raining

12.00 … 1.00 am -> still raining !!

So what does a running lover wannabe like me do when there is rain … and I have yet to get my run in ? Go for a 2.00 am one of course ! Okay so I am crazy but at least I am that few steps away from the reaper compared to you snuggling in your jammies in bed !

Distance : 5.14 km

Heart Rate : 177 max

Calories downed : 384 kCal

Average Pace : 9.01

The polar wear link is also acting up on me these few days. A few times during the run, it seems I died ! My heart rate was 00 according to polar… must have been out of sheer joy ! Go Run towards the light son ! ….

cold night run

Posted by rlog on October 7, 2007

It was raining for the better part of the evening so it was a pretty cold run.

  •  Distance : 5.6 km
  •  Calories downed : 433 kCal
  •  Average Heart rate : 130
  •  Average Pace : 9.19

I felt good throughout the run with a trace of slowing down. This seems to always happen if I take nuts ( peanuts ) before the the run. Any relationship here ?

Back

Posted by rlog on October 6, 2007

I am back to my old place, completing the work there was good and home coming was great, although the most enthusiastic fan I have over here is only my sloppy old room. Today’s run :

  • Distance : 5.8 km
  • Calories Downed : 580 kCal
  • Avg Heart Rate : 129
  • Avg Pace : 8.23

A new pet peeve of mine is the fact that my iriver always goes into this crazy mode everytime I finish my runs and try to turn off the lock. I never ever get to finish my podcasts this way. I don’t know if it’s the sweat clogging up and shorting out the internals of it ( don’t think so ) or if the jarring of my runs turns it all cuckoo. I am still curious of what runners out there vote as the best mp3 player to bring on runs.

A 11 clicker at 1.30 am

Posted by rlog on September 26, 2007

Thanks to Bruny’s long straight roads … today I ran all the way to Bruny’s nu skin and clocked in an 11 clicker. Felt good except for the olde’ knee griping a bit along the way. Running here is akin to running near Kelana Jaya at the same time except for the fact that streets here are clean, heck even the construction sites are clean. I really don’t know how they manage this. About work, it’s rapidly winding down and before you know it ( before you know it here … is about like next week ) probably I will be pounding the pavements in Sunny Olde’ Malaysia again.

Found a few good podcasts about running and health in general that I have updated the blogroll. There are not enough of them to have one that really suxs so all of them are my favorites, though sometimes I think to myself if I am short changing myself in terms of mental training if I listen to podcasts during runs. I guess you can look at it in two ways. One way you are distracting yourself, the other is you are feeding your brain with useful information during runs.

Anyways, today is the planned cutover over here and with any luck I might still be able to slip in a long-short run in there.

Update … managed to squeeze in a 8km run burning 653kCal in the process. Nice medium distance run just before the big cut over. Winds are blowing hard and there is lightning in the sky. A precursor to things going smoothly tonight I hope, the schedule being tight and all with WS going back this friday this may be our only shot to get this right.

Intervals … my style

Posted by rlog on September 19, 2007

Did my equivalent of intervals – 5.5k burning 356 kCal. I have adapted well for running during Ramadan month and so far there seems to be no difference in the mileage I am doing daily. It’s just running at a different time of the day. There is a scenic run about 4 clicks from my apartment that overlooks the “kampung air” of Brunei. It’s a really scenic run overlooking traditional bruny houses built over the river. I like this run and I feel strong everytime when I run around this area but due to my own lazy assedness I only manage to do this 2 to 3 times a week.

Later people.

“Normal runners find excuses not to run while people who love it find excuses to …”
